I am going to split this into two blogs. I am going to document the build of the brick oven in the second blog and then document the backyard build here.

Next up was a design to transform the backyard. New elements to include new decking and rails on the old deck as well as a new section of deck. A concrete patio with foundations for a fire place and a wood burning oven. A pergola for shade in the patio. My wife always thinks big.

Brick Oven Project

My idea was to build a quick and easy wood burning oven in the back yard for limited use. Easy means to me, no mortar. Just stack concrete block then have fire brick laid flat for the hearth. Stack firebrick in a dome shape and voila, an oven.
Once my wife saw the results her response was "No way, that thing is ugly".
So we were off and running on a new backyard project.
